I am currently a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Boreal Avian Modelling Project. My research focuses on the effects of large-scale forest management systems on habitat for birds across the boreal forest region of Canada. A key aspect of this research is understanding how management will interact with other large-scale disturbances such as wildfire, insect outbreaks, and global climate change to impact bird populations now and in the future. I am particularly interested in wildlife management in working landscapes, where questions focus on balancing our need to extract resources from the land with our obligation to maintain the long-term health of the ecosystems that provide those resources. As such, I try to apply the most appropriate research and quantitative techniques to answer management questions affecting our shared conservation heritage.
